Shedding Light on Abuse: Prevention & Response

  • Cathedral Church of Saint Luke 130 North Magnolia Avenue Orlando, FL, 32801 United States (map)

Abuse is a worldwide epidemic. One in four women and one in six men will be sexually assaulted at some point in their lifetime. One in five children will be sexually abused before they are adults. And one in four women and one in 20 men suffered domestic violence.

In central Florida, our status as a worldwide destination has made us a center for human trafficking, and a state now ranked third in the nation for such incidences. The prevalence and effects of abuse are heartbreaking.

That's why the Diocese of Central Florida and GRACE, which stands for Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment, are working together to provide free abuse prevention and response training on May 16th from one to three in the afternoon at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in downtown Orlando. This event is absolutely free and open to all. Please come and equip yourself to effectively safeguard your church, school, or organization. RSVP below to join with the Diocese of Central Florida and the team from GRACE on May 16.

In the video below, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin S. Holcomb addresses the importance of preventing, recognizing and responding to abuse in faith communities, and he extends an invitation to a free training with representatives from GRACE (Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment).

"Shedding Light on Abuse: Prevention & Response" will be held on May 16, 2024, at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Great Hall.
