In the Classroom of Faith
Thursday, February 5 • The Week of the Fourth Sunday after the Epiphany • In the Classroom of Faith • Hebrews 11.23-31
“By faith…”
Faith, according to the Epistle to the Hebrews, is never orderly or tidy. It hides a child in a basket, smears blood on a doorframe, steps into a sea as if the sea is also a classmate learning to try something new, like parting, like trust. Moses refuses the power and prestige of Egypt, not because he is strong, but because God is merciful enough to meet the weak in their trembling fear. Even Jericho falls not because of the someone having the right strategy, but because of a divine blessing on obedience that seems almost foolish. And Rahab, a woman with absolutely no credentials, becomes a doorway of salvation.
Grace does not wait for your certainty. It asks only this of you today. Take the next small step toward the promise. The water will move after your foot does.

Liturgy for Life
Did you know you can find a guide for daily devotions in the Book of Common Prayer? Check it out, starting on page 136. There are prayers for married people that would make for a quick devotion over coffee or on a walk (BCP 429). You can find a grace to say before birthday cake as well as meals (BCP 830, 835). You can find a prayer of dedication for newborns or adoptions (BCP 439).
Need a Prayer Book? We have them in the pews. You can borrow one. You can also find your own in All Saints Gift Shoppe. Don’t hesitate to ask any of your clergy how to use it.
